Ever since I’ve watched the phenomenal original Planet of the Apes, I’ve uh… been having dreams about… Nova. You know that “kind” of dream. If only I could travel back to 1968… ^_^;;

LOL! Eewww right? I mean presently, she’s way, way older than my parents. Double eeewww!! That’s why I said Nova and not Linda Harrison. I’m thinking I’m not alone here. I guess I’m saying there are hot women at certain point in time portraying someone that we really lust for. Yeah, LUST!!! Their portrayal of such character was so perfect that it was forever immortalized by us fans into the deepest recesses of our minds. Example, I know lots of Star Wars fanboys out there still lusts after Carrie Fisher‘s bikini clad Jabba the Hut’s sex slave portrayal of Lea Organa. The Baywatch babes (especially Pamela Anderson) comes to mind as well. My friend had it for Tanya Robert‘s Sheena, Queen of the Jungle (yeah, that original movie not that tv series starring Gena Lee Nolin which is freaking HoT back then too). OTOH, I had it for her as Kiri from the 1982 film The Beastmaster. In fact, some people have put up a website with such listings. Check this out.

But since Nova is but a character, I searched up the net trying to find something about Ms. Harrison. Apparently, her other portrayals weren’t that memorable to fans. I guess that’s the problem with such cult faves. They find it harder and harder to impress fans in portraying other characters after a success. (So I guess Emma Watson can’t be some other chick post Hermione as will Daniel Radcliffe post Harry Potter.) In fact, I’ve found a ridiculous campy Wonder Woman test pilot she did before PotA. Thank gawd! That didn’t happen. If it did, I wouldn’t even bother with her.

Her success as Nova got her a cameo role in Tim Burton’s remake of the Planet of the Apes. Back then, I didn’t know her. I looked for the scene again last night. Guess what? I still didn’t know it was her. LOL!

Anyways, I still think that this is just some hangover from watching these awesome movies. See, back when I was a kid, I’ve had the hots for Shirley Eaton who portrayed of Jill Masterson in Goldfinger. I believe she only had 5 mins of screen time but her dead body lying on bed painted in gold from head to toe was so iconic that I liked James Bond from then on. Then when I was a teenager. There was also Barbara Bach who portrayed Major Anya Amasova from The Spy Who Loved Me. Oooh my gawd. Her character is a different Bond girl. Not those damsel in distress type of shit! This one kicks so much ass. LOL! Girl Power if you know what I mean. Then, of course, there are also local Pinay celebs a couple of years back.

Sometimes though it depends on that exact period of time she portrayed that character. See, I loved Miley Cyrus as Hanna Montana during season 2 best but after that, things kinda change… drastically. Another would be Stephanie Xiao Qiang (萧蔷) who reputedly is Taiwan’s No. 1 beautie (don’t know if that’s still true…). I… uh… lusted after her (and loved) when she was in a Taiwan cop drama (I forgot the title. It’s the one with the Andy Lao song 你是我的温柔) during the mid to late 90s. She played a cop who spied on the crime boss Louie as his lover but was caught, beat up, and shit done to her. Funny thing is she fell in love with him till the very end which affects her allegiances. It was only that show. Perhaps it was the cold shower scene showing her assets. Damn! I think it was before 96′ popular 真愛一世情 with perennial love team Lin Rui Yang (林瑞阳) which I didn’t like her anymore.

Anyways, after the hangovers, I often looked at the pictures or whatever materials I can find out there again today. Ugh! i can’t believe I ever liked her. LOL!

Anyways, I got myself to watch these movies because I’ve just watch the recently released Rise of the Planet of the Apes last night. That movie is like the Phantom Menace of New Hope. Wait, I think X-Men: First Class is more correct since both movies billed themselves as prequel to the movie franchise but had updates or retcon/remake changes incorporated in it. For one, the astronauts only left earth on 2011 and not 1968. And it would appear that its ALZ-113 virus that wipeouts the human race at the same time evolving apes and not the 60s version which suggests nuclear or cold war.

What’s surprising with the 60s original is while some parts of the story makes no sense eg. war wiped out all animals except human, apes, and horses; humans are all vegetarians; men became mute (At least make a few grunting or purr sounds.), I find myself loving the original plot. Truly this is a future that is worth exploring. I believe the psychic mutants have more technology than they let on. If only they had better effects, this would be even better. I guess having Ms. Linda Harrison in bikini helps a lot. Damn she’s HOT!

Yeah, Ijust finished latest Vampire Diaries 3×07 “Ghost World”. Like the title, guest star galore. We know Anna’s back since last season’s ender but I’m really sorry to see her go this epi. At least, she finally got a closure. She had that final kiss with loser Jeremy to move on and finding her mom’s soul to finally be together & be free. Sniff. Sniff.

I’ll miss her still. Hope the show will still find a way for loser-who-sees-dead-people to find a way to bring her back…

Can’t seem to get enough of her. Hell, I went out of my way to view their other youtube videos. My gad! Their music really isn’t for me (except The Boys, S.E.O.U.L. song with Super Junior, and CABI song with 2PM. I guess Run Devil Run is growing on me…?). My ears hurt. She’s skinny, tilts her head to the right most of the time, and acts crazy cute while being dubbed the IceQueen but still breathtakingly beautiful even without makeup. Amazing!! Why haven’t I learn about her sooner when kid bro was going gaga over them? LOL

I’ve said before that Wolvie reopening the school makes sense and in character. Professor X agreed with me here in this ish. What doesn’t make sense is Why The Fuck is he the headmaster and not Beast? I thought it was really Beast since he was so happy about running a damn school during Regenesis. But I guess we are to trust Wolvie again and again to be the master of time management. Before, he was just a member of a lot of X-teams. Then he upgraded to an Avenger but lessened being with some X-teams. Now, this is exceptionally ridiculous. He’s with the Avengers (fine by me, wait, he hangs out a lot with them), operates Uncanny X-Force (ohkay, time consuming black-ops, fine I guess), and now, runs a freakin school and teaching at the same time. How, in the world will he find the time to do so?!? Hell, Cyclops berated him back in Schism about how he never seem to be teaching the kids. And now, he’s the headmaster? Screw you!!

On a side note, I never thought I’d enjoy this ish so much. It would appear I missed the school pretty much. Then there were the new characters. Kid Gladiator? Whodathunkit? Wait, when did Gladiator… who did Gladiator…?

Enter Schism. Marvel’s answer (not that suckfest they call Fear Itself) to DC’s pre-DCnU Flashpoint. Now, this drama between these badass characters came to an end no thanks to some kids. Yeah, believe me. The mastermind behind the whole freakin’ conflict is a kid by the name of Kade Kilgore who freed wacko Quentine Quire, murdered his own father to force inheritance, sold Sentinels all over the world, beat up powerhouse X-Men (eg. Magneto, etc.) along with other kids, and took over the Hellfire Club (by murdering the old ones “again”). Can I believe this SHIT?!? I guess I have to. I’m still waiting for the big reveal that Sublime took over this kid or something. Well, it never came up.

Anyhoo. Other than how un-fucking-believable the adversary is, I do like the drama that Jason Aaron wrote about between Cyke & Wolvie. He really showed us that these 2 men respect each other towards a healthy rivalry. (Wait, I already knew that, hence, Cyke’s X-Force. Duh! But somehow I still got swept up my feet because of the melodrama. Sigh.) To cut the story short, Wolvie suddenly felt sorry for the X-kids for sending them to fight a war. Both mega dudes beat up each other and finally split up. Wolvie is reopening the school with Jean Grey’s name on it. Way to spite Cyke. LOL!

I thought this was pretty in character. Cyke was brought in by Xavier at a young age to join a paramilitary unit to protect mutantkind so it would make sense that he doesn’t share the idea that the kids should go back to school while under heavy attack all the time. OTOH, Wolvie had always took kids under his wing to teach them about life eg. Kitty and Jubilee. I guess this Idie is now his latest pet project. Makes sense somehow he would reopen the school.

Overall, this ain’t bad at all. However, I hope I won’t hate what comes next…

I do not exactly like Kevin Costner. To me, he hasn’t made any good movie eversince Robin Hood. But this movie came to me as a surprise. It was fucking good. It was idiotic and fun poking at the political parties at start but the characters vindicated themselves at the end. That kid Madeline Carroll is just adorable.

Into the Blue 2: The Reef

The sequel-but-has-no-relation to Jessica Alba’s movie that created controversy when Playboy decided to use the photos for their cover. Anyways, the only reason I watch this is because of Supergirl Laura Vandervoort. I miss her a lot in Smallville. Then there’s also David Anders. Yeah, I also missed him in Heroes. Well, technically, this movie is similar to the first one only this sucks and the previous one didn’t. Carmack can’t act. Hell, most of the studs in this freakin movie can’t act. The chicks fared better. However, after watching the behind the scenes, I should give them credit where it is due.

Taken

I’ve been hearing lots of good shit about this film but dismissed it. Why? I don’t exactly like Liam Neeson. Sure, he was Quigon or Ra’s Al-ghul but those roles didn’t do shit to him IMO. To me, he was just some beat up old dude still trying on action films. Surprisingly, that’s what the role needed for in this movie. A divorced and retired spy traveling to France beating up assholes to rescue his kidnapped daughter bound to be a sex slave. That about sums up the whole freakin movie. But DAMN!!! This movie kicks so much ass. You feel the rush and drama of this father. Every minute counts. My excitement was maxed up. Sure, some of what he did seemed unbelievable but who cares. I just want him to rescue his daughter. Speaking of the daughter, Maggie Grace was pretty good and annoying at the same time as his 17 yr old daughter. Whoa! She actually looked young.

Bride Wars

Now that is a chick flick… I hate Kate Hudson but I like Anne Hathaway… Watching a movie with 2 brides fighting each other seems ridiculously funny so what the hell, right? It was fun but kinda stupid. I loved the Kodak moments. I like how these stills were thrown in rather than have every scene in moving pictures. It makes the movie more special somehow. This movie reminds me of License to Wed whereas the couples are concerned. The problem at hand was actually good for them as it tested their love for each other. We get to see the characters grow in that short span of time. It’s just too weird though as they grow so much that I assume Emma didn’t get her dream wedding after all. She must have learned to accept the inevitable. Sure, we could assume that 1 yr later in June she got married to Nate but it can’t possibly be held in the Plaza since it’s fully booked until 3 yrs later.

I’m also having a hard time believing the plot. I mean if Liv is supposed to be the super lawyer that she claims to be then she could just sue Meredith’s ass off but then we wouldn’t have a movie. And perhaps she’s just too excited at getting her dream wedding that she doesn’t have time to do the legal thingy. Or mebbe the contract they signed is far more powerful.  But then again, their chosen dates should have been written in the contracts right so what gives?

Well, I hope they don’t make Baby Wars for a sequel. That would be pushing it too far…

20th Century Boys

I’ve never heard of the manga or anything else about this before watching this flick. The only reason I bought the DVD was due to the cover. They posed like the cast of Heroes in season 1. Hell, the actor who played Kenji has an uncanny resemblance to Nathan Petrelli. This movie started pretty slow since almost all scenes were in flash back. The final showdown between Friend and Kenji was pretty good. Too bad the hero had to die and we still have yet to identify who Friend is. I’m looking forward to the 2nd movie wherein Kanna is now a teenager.

Echelon Conspiracy

My gadd! This movie is crap! There were too many plot holes. No need to mention it. You can just check out the “Things I Learned” thread from IMDB. And then there’s also the problem with the actor(s) who can’t act. Ed Burns, particularly. However, I thought this shit had better story than Eagle Eye. Somehow…

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

I’ve been trying to put off watching this movie solely because my cousin told me he wasted 2 hrs of his life watching this. My brother told me the same thing. So here we are, 2 yrs later, me watching this on a boring day… Holy Fuck!!! This is actually not bad. It was actually good. Sure, Jessica Alba looked hideous here. She was way way hot in the 1st one. Sure, I still hate McMahon as Doom. Sure, I can never understand why they need to separate the voice and actor of Silver Surfer. Sure, that black asshole of a general should have been Nick Fury or something. Sure, the Frankie Raye character seemed too damn stupid for me to care. Sure, Galactus was a total waste and we didn’t get to see him. But damn! This is actually good somehow. I kinda liked it. Mebbe because its their celebrity status drama thingy? Or mebbe I just loved the characters?

My Bestfriend’s Girl

I know I hate Kate Hudson but there was just nothing to watch and I have the DVD lying there. Dane Cook ain’t bad so I tried it. Well, it’s your typical bestfriend movie falling for bestfrien’s girl. Doesn’t really have lots of shit to tell except the ending between Jason Biggs and Lizzy Caplan. Oh wait, Cook’s date with Diora is freakin hilarious as well… The first phone call between Kate and Cook is priceless!!!!
